PM Robert Golob and National Assembly President Urška Klakočar Zupančič joined a number of politicians in Europe and beyond in congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election. Both highlighted the need to secure global peace.

Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon congratulated Republican Donald Trump on his second presidential election win, posting in X on Wednesday that "the US is our leading ally, with whom Slovenia will continue to work to promote global security and economic growth".

The issue of the economy has tipped the scales of the US presidential race in Republican Donald Trump's favour while Democrat Kamala Harris has proved a weak candidate, political scientist Blaž Vrečko Ilc says. Economist Rok Spruk fears Trump's election brings nothing good for the economy and he is also worried about security policy.

The number of people registered as unemployed with the country's Employment Service increased by 3.7% to 45,463 at the end of October compared to September but decreased by 3.7% over October last year. The monthly increase was expected, as more first-time jobseekers usually register as jobless in October after completing their studies.

Slovenia's President Nataša Pirc Musar congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election Tuesday morning, after Trump declared victory over Kamala Harris. She expressed Slovenia's willingness to work with Trump.
