Ljubljana, 11 March - After a considerable period of calm, troubled relations with Croatia came to the fore again when the Foreign Ministry announced this week that the resolution of the dispute with Croatia over guarantees of successors to the former Yugoslavia for foreign currency deposits would be set as a precondition for Croatia's accession to the EU. And while the European Court of Human Rights ruled in favour of 17 Slovenian citizens who sued for unduly long court proceedings, Slovenian judges convinced the Constitutional Court to stay the execution of legislation that would reduce their wages and introduce performance bonuses instead. At the same time, President Janez Drnovsek was in the Middle East, urging Israeli and Palestinian officials to engage in dialogue.
