Ljubljana, 22 March - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 23 March:

BRUSSELS, Belgium - PM Janez Jansa is to take part in the first day of a two-day summit of EU leaders. The meeting is to focus on growing protectionism in the EU and the foundations for the EU energy policy. Jansa is to be accompanied at the summit by Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk. Prior to the summit (which gets underway at 5:20 PM), Jansa is to take part in a meeting of leaders of the European People's Party (a press statement is scheduled for after the meeting 4:20 PM). SKOPJE, Macedonia - Environment Minister Janez Podobnik is to begin a two-day visit to Macedonia, aimed at exchanging experience and know-how, at the invitation of his Macedonian counterpart Zoran Sapuric.

LJUBLJANA - Labour Minister Janez Drobnic and his aides as well as the acting director of the Employment Institute Anka Rode are to speak about unemployment trends and plans to overhaul the institute at a press conference scheduled for noon.

NOVO MESTO - Pharmaceutical company Krka is to hold a press conference at 1 PM to present operating plans for 2006. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Podjetnik (Entrepreneur) magazine is to confer the entrepreneur of the year award at a ceremony scheduled for 6:30 PM. A press conference is scheduled to be held at 11 AM.

BLED - The Agency for Management is to stage a two-day meeting on reforms in the non-commercial sector (gets underway at 3 PM). The first day is to see the participation of Health Minister Andrej Brucan and State Secretary for Development Andrej Horvat, among others.

NOVA GORICA - The Nova Gorica Polytechnic is to present plans to transform into a university at 10 AM.
