Schedule of Events for Friday, 7 April

Ljubljana, 6 April - Below is a schedule of events for Friday, 7 April:

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary EU and economic affairs committees are to jointly discuss at 10 AM the Lisbon Strategy and the implementation of reforms in Slovenia. PM Janez Jansa, European Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik and Janez Sustersic of the Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development are to attend. (STA/PHOTO)

LJUBLJANA - The government Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) is to present the spring economic growth forecast at a press conference scheduled for noon. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - PM Janez Jansa is to meet at 3 PM the parliamentary parties which have shown an interest in signing the agreement on partnership and development, to discuss the contents of the deal. Parliament Speaker France Cukjati is also to attend.

VIENNA, Austria - A two-day informal meeting of EU finance ministers is to be attended by Slovenia's Andrej Bajuk. The ministers are expected to discuss the controversial subject of protectionism, the economic and budgetary situation and uniform base for corporate income tax.

PORTOROZ - A Manager Association-organised meeting is to conclude with a panel on the novelties in 2007 tax policy and the euro changeover. Finance Ministry State Secretary Andrej Sircelj, acting director of the Tax Administration Ivan Simic and Bozo Jasovic of the Bank of Slovenia to attend. (STA)

BLED - The European Federation of Journalists will begin at 10:30 AM a three-day general assembly, organised by the Trade Union of Slovenian Journalists and the Slovenian Association of Journalists.

LJUBLJANA - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jure Zupan, and State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs Marjeta Cotman are to talk to the press at 9 AM about student issues.

KOPER - Open day for media at the French minesweeper Verseau, which is in the port of Koper in line with an agreement on bilateral military cooperation between France and Slovenia; at 8:30 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Public Health Institute and the Health Ministry are to hold at 9 AM a conference on health which marks the World Health Day. A press conference, also attended by Health Minister Andrej Brucan and the institute's director Andrej Marusic, is scheduled for 11 AM.

BELTINCI - A meeting of the government committee on the protection of the Roma Minority, also to be attended by Education Minister Milan Zver; at 10:30 AM.

ALGIERS, Algeria - Slovenia is to play Algeria in the first round of the second Euro-African group of the Davis Cup in tennis.

KRANJ - Slovenia are to play France at 6:45 PM in the first match of the qualifiers for the Water Polo European Championships, with the first two teams set to qualify for the championships. Slovakia and Malta are to play at 8:15 PM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The STA is to release at 6 AM an interview about new dioceses with Peter Kvaternik of the Slovenian Roman Catholic Church commission which drafted a relevant proposal. The proposal for three new dioceses was sent to the Vatican last year. (STA)
