Peterle: SKD Should Leave the Ruling Coalition

Ljubljana, 4 November - I believe the Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD) should leave the ruling coalition, Lojze Peterle, President of the SKD, told a news conference Friday, after he had analyzed the relations between Slovenia and Italy and the decision not to open the negotiations on an association agreement with Slovenia the EU foreign ministers made at the recent meeting in Luxembourg. Peterle said one of the reasons for his resignation was political conflicts in the coalition. He stressed though that only the SKD Council had the mandate to decide whether the party would leave the coalition or not.
