Ljubljana, 23 May - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 24 May:

POSTOJNA/CERKNICA - The government is to visit the Notranjsko region starting with a working session of the cabinet at 9 AM. PM Janez Jansa is to visit the companies Ydria Motors and Postonjska jama turizem, and speak to the press alongside Environment Minister Janez Podobnik at 3:30 PM. Interior Minister Dragutin Mate is to visit the border police at the Jelsane crossing and the deportation centre at Veliki otok, while Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is set to visit two major army training grounds. LJUBLJANA - The May session of the National Assembly resumes at 9 AM. The agenda includes the second reading of the amendments to the media act, the second reading of the act on chambers of commerce and a general debate on the religious freedom bill. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The Student Organisation of Slovenia (SOS) is to stage a protest in the centre of Ljubljana at 1 PM after the organisation failed to reach an agreement with the government over a set of demands that the students say would improve their social situation. SECOVLJE - A panel dubbed "Slovenia - Croatia - the New EU Border" is to get underway at 7 PM. Speakers include MEP Mihael Brejc, Croatian Ambassador to Slovenia Mario Nobilo and the head of the European Commission Representation in Slovenia, Mihela Zupancic.

LJUBLJANA - The newly-formed Assembly for Ljubljana is to speak to the press at 11 AM. The civil society group is modelled on the Assembly for the Republic, which in 2004 played a significant role in the victory of the centre-right parties at the general elections. The Assembly for Ljubljana wants to do the same at this year's local elections.

LJUBLJANA - The Movement for Justice and Peace, a civil society group set up by President Janez Drnovsek, is to hold a press conference at 2 PM ahead of the maiden general assembly scheduled for Sunday.

LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian Tourism Board is to present an analysis of the hotel industry in Slovenia and forecasts for the coming tourist season at a press conference scheduled for 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The management board of the Association for Energy at the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to discuss the situation on the European and Slovenian energy markets at 10 AM.

CELJE - Football clubs Koper and Publikum will fight for this year's cup title in a game which starts at 8 PM.
