Ljubljana, 4 June - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 5 June:
SLOVENIA - Several events are to take place to mark World Environment Day: (STA)
- a two-day conference entitled "Strategies for Sustainable Development of the Adriatic" is to begin in PORTOROZ at 9 AM, organised by the Environment Ministry as part of the country's two-year presidency of the Mediterranean Action Plan.
- an alternative forum to preserve the northern Adriatic is to begin in PIRAN at 10 AM, organised by the Association of Ecological Movements of Slovenia, together with its partners from Italy and Croatia, to be followed by a news conference at 1 PM.
- an European Commission-sponsored campaign on climate change is to be presented to the press at 11 AM, one hour before the campaign in launched in Preseren Square in LJUBLJANA.
LJUBLJANA - Former senior Communist official Mitja Ribicic is to appear before an investigating judge after crimes-against-civilians charges for his alleged involvement in post-war killings were filed against him by the supreme state prosecutor in April.
HANOI, Vietnam - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to pay an official visit to Vietnam. He is to meet his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Dy Nien and Deputy PM Nguyen Tan Dung. (STA)
CELJE - A debate on how to make the economy more competitive and encourage business as part of Slovenia's Development Strategy is to begin at 5 PM, to be attended by Minister of the Economy Andrej Vizjak.
LJUBLJANA - Social partners are to resume talks on the 2006-2009 social agreement, possibly closing the chapter on labour market and employment. While the employers would like to open a new chapter (wages), the trade unions insist that tax policy should be dealth with first. Statement to the press around 3 PM.
LJUBLJANA - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology is to present the conclusions of a public debate on guidelines for a 2006-2010 higher education national programme; at 10 AM.
LJUBLJANA - The Employment Service is to present unemployment trends and the assessment of workers and employers of their cooperation with the Service at a news conference scheduled for 11:30 AM.
LJUBLJANA - Portuguese Culture Minister Isabel Pires de Lima is to arrive on an official visit to Slovenia to discuss with her Slovenian counterpart Vasko Simoniti various aspects of culture, especially those relevant for the future EU presidency of the two countries. The two ministers are to speak to the press on Tuesday.
LJUBLJANA - A retrospective of films by the late director and screen writer Bostjan Hladnik (1929-2006) is to get under way at the Slovenian Cinematheque. Hladnik, who died last week, is considered the pioneer of modernism in Slovenian film.
