Ljubljana, 30 June - Below is a schedule of events for Saturday, 1 July:

CRNA NA KOROSKEM - A traditional gathering of statesmen is to take place at noon at the Najevnik linden tree, the linden tree with the largest diameter in Slovenia. Former prime minister Alojz Peterle, currently member of the European Parliament, will be the speaker of honour. (STA)

PTUJ - Senior members of the ruling Slovenian Democrats (SDS) are to meet to discuss preparations for the 2006 local elections. SDS president Janez Jansa is to speak to the press at 1 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The presidency of the opposition Social Democrats (SD) is to debate preparations for the party's congress behind closed doors. SD president Borut Pahor is expected to talk to the press at 1 PM.

SLOVENSKA BISTRICA - An 11 AM ceremony is to remembered the day in 1991 when the Slovenian armed forces captured a key weapons depot at Zgornja Loznica during the independence war. Defence Minister Karl Erjavec is to deliver the keynote address.

LJUBLJANA - The sixth gay pride parade is to kick off at noon under the slogan "Enough! Let's Throw Off Our Masks!". The participants are to be received by Ljubljana Mayor Danica Simsic at 1 PM.

TRIESTE, Italy - Non-governmental organisations from Slovenia, Italy and Croatia, the weekly Mladina alongside Slovenian and Italian fishermen are to stage a protest against the planned construction of two liquefied natural gas terminals in the Gulf of Trieste; at 10:30 AM.

KLAGENFURT, Austria - Two informal groups advocating bilingual town signs in the province of Carinthia are to organise a gathering promoting bilingualism with the slogan "Bilingualism - Our Future"; at 3 PM.
