Weekly Review of Events in Slovene Economy from November 21 to 26

Ljubljana, 26 November - This week, a great stir was caused by the company SCT which refused to sign the contract for building the motorway section Arja vas - Vransko with the Society for Motorways (DARS). The SCT refused to sign the contract in order to protest against the fact that the majority of works on this motorway section will be carried out by two Italian companies. As the SCT did not sign the contract on November 21, the DARS can take, in accordance with the regulations, appropriate measures; among them is the exaction of the guarantee which the SCT gave in its offer and which amounts to 3 per cent of the total value of works (i.e. SIT 6.9 million). The DARS also announced that due to the fact that the contract with the SCT had not been signed, the second stage of the international public tender might be repeated.
