Ljubljana, 29 August - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 30 August:

LJUBLJANA - Prime Minister Janez Jansa is to meet presidents and deputy group chairs of coalition parties to unveil the proposal for tax reforms (10 AM). The tax reform package will also be presented to the Development Partnership council (noon). Jansa is to be joined by Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk in presenting the reforms to trade unions at 3 PM, which is to be followed by a press conference by Minister Bajuk and Finance Ministry State Secretary Andrej Sircelj at 5 PM. LJUBLJANA - Japanese Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kazuo Kitagawa is scheduled to meet a Slovenian delegation led by Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak and President Janez Drnovsek on the last day of his visit to Slovenia. Marjan Hribar, the head of the ministry's directorate for tourism, is to talk to the press at 11:30 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Senior officials from the Slovenian, Czech and Austrian transport ministries are to sign a memorandum of understanding on the priority treatment, development and use of the rail corridor Prague - Ceske Budejovice - Linz - Graz - Maribor - Ljubljana - Koper; at 10 AM. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan is scheduled to begin an official visit to Slovenia at the invitation of Prime Minister Janez Jansa, the first high-level state visit by a Chinese official to Slovenia in four years. He is expected to meet PM Jansa, President Janez Drnovsek and Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel on Thursday.

LJUBLJANA - The Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) is to hold a press conference at 11:30 AM to present their candidate for mayor of Ljubljana, Francek Rudolf, and the list of candidates for local councillors.

LJUBLJANA - Newspaper publisher Delo is to hold the annual general meeting at 1 PM. One of the items on the agenda is changes to the company's bylaws that would allow a member of the board to perform editorial duties.

LJUBLJANA - Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB), Slovenia's largest bank, is to present the continuation of preparations for the adoption of the euro at noon.

ZELEZNIKI - Domel, the maker of electric motors, is to present the new management at a press conference scheduled for 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Sadar Vuga Arhitekti architecture bureau, which will represent Slovenia at the 10th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, is to hold a press conference at 12:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The organisers of the Ljubljana Festival are to talk to the press at 11 AM as the festival enters its final week. One of the highlights of the summer festival, Tomaz Pandur's "Tesla Electric Company", is meanwhile scheduled for 8:30 PM at Ljubljana Castle.

LJUBLJANA - The National Heritage Museum is to present the exhibition Encountering China: 200 Years of Slovene Experience of Chinese Culture (31 August 2006, 14 April 2007) at a press conference at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Mir (Peace), a four-day festival organised by a civic group that highlight the problems of asylum seekers, is to open at noon at the former Rog factory, which has become a centre of alternative culture.

DOLGA VAS - Lendava police are to talk to the press at 10 AM to present a recent seizure of a large amount of marijuana and weapons.
