VIENNA, Austria - The jubilee 50th general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is to start at Vienna. Slovenia, a member of the IAEA Board of Governors, is due to take over as chair of the body after the conference that will run until Friday.

NEW YORK, US - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to begin a ten-day visit to the US, where he is to attend the session of the UN General Assembly and host a meeting of the Human Security Network, among other things.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council is to hold a meeting, discussing the reform of the wine sector. Slovenian Agriculture minister Marija Lukacic is to be on hand. (STA)

MOSCOW/IRKUTSK, Russia - Transport Minister Janez Bozic is to begin an official four-day visit to Russia, where he is to meet his Russian counterpart Igor Levitin and take part at the 4th Baikal Economic Forum.

LJUBLJANA - Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak and MEP Romana Jordan Cizelj are to present at 11 AM energy policy as a priority task of Slovenia's stint as EU chair in the first half of 2008 as well as the visit of the European Energy Forum, which is expected in Slovenia on Thursday and Friday. LJUBLJANA - Algerian Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Handicrafts Mustapha Benbada is to discuss at noon economic cooperation with his Slovenian host and counterpart Andrej Vizjak. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to accept a copy of the credentials of Germany's Ambassador to Slovenia Hans-Joachim Goetz at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - An meeting entitled "Tax Reforms or Mere Tweaks?" is to be hosted by leader of the opposition Social Democrats Borut Pahor. Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk is expected to take part. At 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Trade Union of Asbestos Patients (SABS) is to stage a public protest at 10 AM and deliver letters to PM Janez Jansa and Parliament Speaker France Cukjati due to its unhappiness with the changes to the act concerning remedying the consequences of work with asbestos.

LJUBLJANA - A three-day conference is to be organised by the Slovenian Army and is to be attended by members of the NATO air defence committee.

LJUBLJANA - Human Rights Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek will present a 27 September international conference on hate speech among other subjects at a news conference scheduled for at 10 AM.

PORTOROZ - The Slovenia Open, a WTA tournament, is to kick off with first round matches.

KRANJ - A 10 AM news conference is to present the activities that are to mark the 80th birthday of acclaimed Slovenian artist France Slana.
