Ljubljana, 20 September - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 21 September:

NEW YORK, US - As part of his ten-day visit to the US, FM Dimitrij Rupel is to take part in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers. He is also scheduled to attend a meeting of the group for inter-religious dialogue and host a meeting of ministers from members of the Human Security Network. Moreover, Rupel is to hold bilateral meetings with Egyptian, Canadian and Montenegrin counterparts. (STA)

TAMPERE, Finland - A two-day informal meeting of EU justice and home affairs ministers is to get underway with the participation of Slovenia's ministers Lovro Sturm and Dragutin Mate. The delay in the expansion of the Schengen zone is likely to feature highly in the talks as is the Hague Programme of closer cooperation in justice and security.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary committees for the economy, EU affairs and labour are to hold a joint session at 2 PM to discuss the draft report on the implementation of reforms for the Lisbon Strategy. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to hold its weekly session. The agenda includes the bill on Slovenian Engineering Academy alongside changes to the acts on electronic telecommunications; on courts; and on judicial service among other topics. GORNJA RADGONA - A round table is to be held at 10 AM discussing the EU defence industry, to be followed at 1 PM by a workshop on the equipment needs of the Slovenian Armed Forces.

LJUBLJANA - The junior coalition People's Party (SLS) is to outline its views on the recent heightening in tensions on the border between Slovenia and Croatia as well as its plans for the upcoming local elections at a press conference scheduled for 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Head of the European Commission's Directorate for the Environment Nicholas Hanley is to speak about the EU's environmental programme in a lecture scheduled for 4 PM.

POSTOJNA - A round table is to be held on foreign investment in Slovenia and an award given out to the best foreign investor in Slovenia as part of an event staged by the Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investment and the Slovenian Times publication. At 6 PM.

MARIBOR - Vehicle manufacturer Tovarna vozil Maribor (TVM) is to unveil a contract with Austria's Magna Steyr company on the production of chassis frames for the Mercedes G off-roader at an event scheduled for 3 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Commercial station Prva TV is to hold a press conference at 3 PM to outline its plans following its recent acquisition by a Swedish company.

PORTOROZ - Slovenian Open, the only WTA tournament in the country, is to continue with second round matches in the singles competition.

SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain - The 54th International Film Festival is to kick off, featuring "Karavla" (Border Post) by director Rajko Grlic in its competition programme. The movie was co-produced by all the countries of the former Yugoslavia, including Slovenia.
