Ljubljana, 24 September - The Slovenian cabinet this week visited Slovenia's richest and most populous region as part of its series of visits to all statistical regions. While praising the level of development in Osrednjeslovensko region, cabinet members also pointed to inequalities and further opportunities. The debate continued to rage on about the government's proposed tax reform, as a media report surfaced this week suggesting that the budget deficit could be much bigger than planned because of the proposed measures. The reports were denied by Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk. Meanwhile, the unions rejected an idea by the Finance Ministry that would see workers keep their net wages the same under the new income tax law by agreeing to have their gross wages cut.
