Ljubljana, 2 December - The last days of November and first days of December were in the spotlight of the election campaign and Slovenia's strained relations with Italy, who (once again) contributed to the decision of the EU Council of Ministers not to give the green light for the negotiation mandate for Slovenia's associate membership in the EU. Slovene President Milan Kučan spoke at the 40th session of the Western European Union (WEU) in Paris; a group of 12 members of parliament tabled interpellation against Defence Minister Jelko Kacin.
