OVERVIEW OF IMPORTANT EVENTS IN SLOVENIA IN JUNE 1992
Ljubljana, 3 June - A series of events characterized the June tempo in Slovenia. Among the more motivating and optimistic were the celebrations of the first anniversary of the declaration of Slovenian independence. But the pleasant feelings on National Day (25 June) did not mute larger problems. Janez Drnovšek's government has gradually begun to deal with burning questions and, in this connection, ran into many difficulties. The problems were particularly pronounced in the financial field, as the rapid replacement of the former Minister of Finance, Janez Kopač, demonstrated. Events were very dynamic in the political sphere as well, and since the passage of the proposal on electoral legislation, it is even more likely that elections really will be held in the fall. This, of course has, prompted individual parties to begin the pre-election battle, and some have already chosen their presidential candidates.
