Ljubljana, 23 October - Below is a schedule of events for Monday, 23 October:

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly convenes a regular October session at 2 PM. Prime Minister Janez Jansa will be taking questions from the floor at 3 PM. (STA/PHOTO)

LJUBLJANA - The UN Slovenia Association is to hold a ceremony at 6 PM to mark United Nations Day, observed on 24 October. Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel will address the ceremony as the key-note speaker.

BUDAPEST, Hungary - FM Dimitrij Rupel is to attend the ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian revolution.

LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - Environment Ministry State Secretary Marko Starman is set to take part in the EU Environment Council. The agenda includes a draft directive on the quality of air and a strategy for the preservation of the maritime environment.

LJUBLJANA - Health Minister Andrej Brucan and State Secretary Dorjan Marusic are to unveil at a press conference at noon a project of national health system modernisation, which is part of the government resolution on national development projects for 2007-2023 (STA).

BRDO PRI KRANJU - Justice Minister Lovro Sturm is to welcome at 9 AM participants to the two-day workshop on the right to trial within a reasonable time. The event is sponsored by the Judiciary Education Centre, which operates as part of the Justice Ministry, and the Council of Europe's Directorate General for Human Rights.

LJUBLJANA - A delegation of the Support for Improvement in Governance and Management programme, a joint initiative of the EU and OECD, are to arrive for a visit in Slovenia. On the first day of their visit here, the delegation is due to meet Public Administration Minister Gregor Virant at 9 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Economic and Social Council is to meet at 10 AM to discuss the 2007-2008 programme of community work and a bill to adjust transfers to individuals and households.

LJUBLJANA - Social partners, i.e. the government, trade unions and employers, are to meet behind closed doors at 10 AM to resume negotiations on the 2006-2009 social agreement. LJUBLJANA - The Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions is to host a press conference at 1 PM to comment on what it sees as the government's failure to reach an agreement to establish trade union membership numbers, a prerequisite to confirm the validity of the collective bargaining agreement for the public sector.

VARPALOTA, Hungary - The 10th motorised batalion of the Slovenian Armed Forces is to depart for the military excercises that are set to begin at the Varpalota training ground, in Hungary, on 17 November.

LJUBLJANA - The European Week for Safety and Health at Work begins.

LJUBLJANA - Speaker of Parliament France Cukjati is to be handed in a petition for a zero VAT on books at 11 AM.

LJUBLJANA - "Figuralmente", an exhibition on new Italian figural painting opens at 7 PM at the Ljubljana City Gallery.
