Ljubljana, 18 December - LOCAL ELECTIONS '94
In the second round of elections for mayors, Dimitrij Rupel was elected mayor of Ljubljana. Rupel (candidate of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia) got 57.42 per cent of votes, while France Bučar (independent) got 42.58 per cent of votes. In Maribor, Slovenia's second largest town, Alojz Križman (independent) will be the new mayor. He got 53.91 per cent of votes, while Boris Sovič (the Associated List of Social Democrats) got 46.01 per cent of votes.
