War shapes expectations of tourist industry
Ljubljana, 20 June - The developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH), which have caused the arrival of tens of thousands of refugees in Slovenia are also the cause of the numerous cancellations of holiday bookings made in our country by foreign tourist agencies for the off-peak season and will, it seems, continue to shape the fate of our coastal tourist industry. The prevailing assessments on the size of this year's turnover given by the experts in the industry place the figures at from 40 to 60 percent of the turnover made in 1990, (which is regarded as the last "normal" season). There are however hopes that this year's season will be salvaged by individual holiday-makers deciding in the last minute to come to Slovenia.
