Ljubljana, 6 March - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 7 March:

LJUBLJANA - A bill on the agency for real estate registers and the national programme for fighting crime in the 2007-2011 period will be on the agenda of the weekly cabinet session. A news conference is scheduled for 2 PM. (STA/PHOTO)

LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is to continue its February session by debating the spatial planning bill (second reading) and amendments to the inspection act. The MPs will also carry out a general debate on the bill on election and referendum campaign. The session starts at 10 AM.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister Jure Zupan is to attend a ceremony marking the launch of the EU's 7th Research Framework Programme. The event will also be attended by European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

LJUBLJANA - Parliament's EU Affairs Committee is to start at 8 AM a closed-door session to discuss the EU summit, which will be held in Brussels on 8 and 9 March.

LJUBLJANA - The asylum sector at the Interior Ministry is to hold open day at the asylum-seekers home with a news conference on the institution's activities scheduled for 1 PM. (STA/PHOTO)

LJUBLJANA - The Energy Directorate at the Economy Ministry, in cooperation with the European Commission, is to hold at 9:30 AM a presentation of the 7th Research Framework Programme.

LJUBLJANA - The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS), the country's largest trade union confederation, is to confer at 11 AM the "Pink Cinquefoil" award for the top achievement in the year of gender equality.

LJUBLJANA - The National Council is to host at 1 PM a panel on the position of the Slovenian minority in the Austrian province of Carinthia.

LJUBLJANA - The Office for Equal Opportunities is to host at 10 AM a conference entitled "Women in Research and Science" on the eve of International Women's Day. The central theme of the conference will be the situation of women in research and science in Slovenia.

BERLIN, Germany - The Slovenian Tourist Board is to participate in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB), which runs until 11 March.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenian associations for the fight against cancer are to hold an open day as part of the week dedicated to the fight against cancer.

LJUBLJANA - Amnesty International Slovenije is to start gathering signatures in support for further steps to prevent domestic violence at 7 PM.
