Iranian FM Mottaki Holding Talks in Slovenia Today

Ljubljana, 14 March - Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is visiting Slovenia on Wednesday for talks aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries and discussing international issues.

The visit comes at a time Slovenia is chairing the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and getting ready to hold the EU presidency in the first half of 2008.

Mottaki is to be received by his Slovenian counterpart Dimitrij Rupel in the morning, he is then to meet President Janez Drnovsek, and finally, at noon, Prime Minister Janez Jansa. Rupel and Mottaki are to hold a press conference following the meeting with Jansa.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the talks between the two ministers will focus on bilateral relations, and on the positions of the two countries regarding current international topics, including Iran's nuclear programme.

The visit comes amidst the ongoing dispute between the West and Iran over Iran's nuclear programme.
