Ljubljana, 14 March - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 15 March:

LJUBLJANA - The five largest Slovenian trade unions are to stage a rally at 11 AM against the privatisation of public services in Slovenia. The rally comes as the government drafts new legislation on the public sector. The Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS) will also hold a press conference at 10 AM to present its views on access to quality public services, especially in health care and education. The conference is also to be attended by Josef Niemiec, secretary general of the European Trade Union Confederation. (STA/PHOTO)

LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to begin its weekly session at 10 AM. The agenda includes the proposed changes to the act on public interest in culture and the draft plan for development and renovation of motorways in 2007. A press conference is scheduled for 1 PM. (STA/PHOTO)

NUREMBERG, Germany - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to take part in a meeting of EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The meeting, marking the 30th anniversary of cooperation between the two groupings, is to discuss topical regional and international issues. Rupel is expected to address the press at 2:30 PM.

HANOVER, Germany - Slovenian Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak is to attend an informal meeting of the EU transport, telecommunications and energy ministers.

LJUBLJANA - The delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is to wrap up its two-week visit to Slovenia. It is scheduled to meet the government and the management of Slovenian central bank, Banka Slovenije.

LJUBLJANA - A two-day session of the financial committee of the successors to the former Yugoslavia is to get under way, discussing the division of diplomatic and consular property. The committee is expected to conclude the talks on the division of properties in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) members and begin negotiations for the division of properties in other countries.

LJUBLJANA - Lord Grenfell, Chairman of the House of Lords Select Committee on the European, who is visiting Slovenia at the invitation of the chair of the parliamentary EU Affairs committee Anton Kokalj, is to meet Parliament Speaker France Cukjati at 10 AM. At 10:30 AM Grenfell is to be received by Kokalj with whom he is also to make a statement for the press at noon. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary Budgetary and Finance Oversight Committee is to go into session at 10 AM to discuss claims of irregularities by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning in paying a contractor for works in the clean up of the landslide at Log pod Mangartom.

LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary Economy Committee is to discuss the proposed changes to the act on rescue and restructuring aid for companies in difficulty and amendments to the act on return of investments in the public telecommunications network; at noon.

LJUBLJANA - The European Commission Representation in Slovenia, the Government Consumer Protection Office and the Slovenian Consumers' Association are to hold at noon a joint press conference to mark World Consumer Rights Day; at noon. The Economy Ministry and the Government Consumer Protection Office are to hold a press conference at the occasion at 10:30 AM.

LJUBLJANA - Institute Jozef Stefan, Slovenia's premiere scientific institution, is to hold a press conference at 11 AM to outline the 15th Days of Jozef Stefan, which will be taking place between 19 and 25 March.

LJUBLJANA - Education and Sports Minister Milan Zver is to meet at 2 PM the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Slovenia Peran Boskovic.

LJUBLJANA - Prime Minister Jansa Jansa is to be the speaker of honour at an economic and entrepreneurial achievements in 2006 awards ceremony organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS); begins at 6 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council are to stage a seminar dubbed "Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta - Business Opportunities for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises"; at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The supervisory board of Slovenske zeleznice railway operator is expected to discuss the appointment of the company's new director general. Supervisory board chairman Peter Verlic is to talk to the press at 5:30 PM.

LJUBLJANA - The ninth international documentary film festival is to open its doors.

LJUBLJANA - A round table is to be held on the margins of an exhibition of the works of Slovenia's best-known architect, Joze Plecnik, to discuss Slovenia's attitude to Plecnik's achievements; at 11 AM.
