LJUBLJANA - The National Assembly is to take a vote on the changes to the act on public servants and the nomination of Samo Fakin for director of the Health Insurance Institute. Under the government-sponsored motion on public servants, private detectives could be hired to look for abuse of sickness benefits and transport allowances by civil servants. The session begins at 10 AM. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is to meet for its weekly session. Its agenda includes the bill on scholarships. A press conference is scheduled for 2 PM. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The Strategic Council for Economic Development, an advisory body appointed by the government, is to meet at 4 PM to discuss strategic issues facing Slovenia, focusing on demographic policy, employment, labour market and public finance.
BLED - The 39th International PEN meeting of writers is to get underway at 9:30 AM with a round-table debate on endangered languages and cultures on the verge of extinction. The meeting, which brings together some 80 writers from 30 countries, runs until Sunday. (STA)
