Chamber of Communities Demands Higher Selling Prices of Wheat and Rape

Ljubljana, 8 July - At today's continuation of the 40th session, the Chamber of Communities discussed the proposed decrees concerning to the problems in agriculture. Five decrees were passed. In the third the Chamber demands that the government should increase this year's selling price of wheat to 23.40 tolars, which was calculated by the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia. The selling price of rape should be increased, as well.
The Chamber wants the government to design an appropriate security policy for domestic agriculture and prevent the uncontrolled dumping of imports of agricultural products and products of the food processing industry. The selling price of milk should cover expenses of production and farmers should receive regular payment for delivered milk. The government should prevent the monopolistic supply of the Slovenian market with the products of the so called "green mafia" and establish such market order in the trade of fruits and vegetables which would enable Slovenian producers to sell their products. In addition, the government should prepare a strategy for the rehabilitation of the Slovenian agriculture.
