Front-runners for President Discuss Topical Issues in TV Debates

Ljubljana, 18 July - The top three candidates for autumn's presidential election by opinion polls appeared in two short televised debates on Tuesday that saw them quizzed about their bids as well as on topical issues. MEP Alojz Peterle believes his top draw will be his reputation, while former senior UN diplomat Danilo Turk said his was to take Slovenian politics to another level. Former central bank governor Mitja Gaspari said he would act "as himself" and not try and be somebody else.
