Refugee Total in Slovenia Reaches 70,000 Mark
Ljubljana, 4 August - There are currently approximately 70,000 temporary refugees in Slovenia, reports the National Administration for Protection and Rescue at the Slovenian Ministry of Defence.
Between July 1st and August 4th, the number of temporary refugees in Slovenia rose by more than 6,000. Recently, the Slovenian Red Cross has registered an increase in the amount of requests made by the refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina for certification of permanent residence in Slovenia and for special certificates to be issued by the Red Cross guaranteeing that this organization will grant those of their relatives who have not yet left Bosnia and Herzegovina the status of temporary refugees. The Red Cross would like to stress that it has not issued, nor will it issue, any certificates, permits and declarations facilitating the entry of foreign citizens into Slovenia.
