Trade Unions of Tertiary Sector to Dispute Freeze on Wages
Ljubljana, 4 August - The trade unions which signed the collective contract for all activities in the tertiary sector will inititate legal proceedings in the Constitutional Court against the illegal resolution passed by the Government on July 24th to freeze all wages in the tertiary sector, said representatives of tertiary sector trade unions at a press conference today. Despite this decision, though, the representatives said they would continue negotiations with the Government, as they had already prepared a proposal on alterations to the collective contract in question.
On the basis of the proposed renomination of the budget, the proposal for the agreement on ensuring social stability, and the proposed alterations to the collective contracts, the Slovenian Government passed a resolution setting the basic income in the tertiary sector for July at 20,991 SIT. The tertiary sector trade unions are prepared to accept the Government's proposal on temporary alterations to the collective contracts in this sector, but demand that the Bill on placing a temporary freeze on the basic income in this sector is not placed before the Assembly for debate, said the trade union representatives.
