REVIEW OF IMPORTANT EVENTS IN SLOVENIA BETWEEN AUGUST 1st AND 8th 1992
Ljubljana, 8 August - The world is slowly, but surely beginning to realize that Slovenia is a safe tourist destination, far removed from the effects of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although the first half of summer has gone by and it is still too early for a final assessment of the success of the tourist season, the first results are nonetheless heartening. Slovenia's spas are almost all full and the tourist facilities along the coast are 70 - 75 percent full, while more than half the tourist facilities in the mountains are booked out. Tourism may not bring Slovenia the billions of dollars this year that it could have, according to some realistic assessments, but the path Slovenia aims to follow as a new tourist destination with thermal health resorts and unspoiled natural surroundings, beautiful coastal regions, breathtaking Alps, and high quality, comprehensive tourist programmes, will get us there eventually.
