Slovenia Takes Care of Refugees
Ljubljana, 14 August - SLOVENIA/REFUGEES/B&H
Slovenia has spared no efforts during recent months to alert the international community of the refugee issue. It has thoroughly informed the world public of the causes, extensiveness, and possible consequences of this pressing matter, and has also been actively searching for an early solution to the problem within international organizations. The Slovenian government was one of the initiators of international conferences on humanitarian aid to refugees, which have been held in Vienna, Zagreb, and Ljubljana. Slovenia, Croatia, and Macedonia shoulder the heaviest part of the refugee burden, since the largest number of refugees has temporarily found shelter in these states. The entire international community is responsible for finding a solution to this problem, and the above mentioned former Yugoslav republics expect considerably more international financial and material aid.
