Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 13-19 October
Ljubljana, 20 October - In the week ahead of the presidential vote, each of the seven candidates tried to persuade as many voters to vote for him or her, which however did not overshadow heated debates on private security firms following the death of a 20-year old who was beaten by a security guard. The government held their first joint session with the Hungarian colleague, the session taking place partly in Slovenia, partly in Hungary. Also this week, 12 bidders submitted non-binding offers for an over 49% stake in Telekom Slovenije, and a documentary about the children of victims of post-WWII killings became the best film of the 10th Festival of Slovenian Film.
