SCHENGEN: Borders Protected Inland when Crossings Are Scraped

Ljubljana, 27 November - Security checks on the borders with Austria, Hungary and Italy will be scrapped when Slovenia joins the Schengen passport-free zone in late December, but to preclude threats to security, Slovenia as well as other countries will carry out random checks further inland to reduce what they call the "security deficit".
