Večer: Skiing as a National Movement
Ljubljana, 26 October - In today's Večer, Mr. Aco Pasternjak writes about the Slovenian sport and its future outlook. Skiing is considered a national sport and for a long time, especially during the political one-mindedness era, was used for political ends. In other words, politicians who supported the "white lobby" had higher political rating. A similar idea has now occurred to the Slovenian Christian Democrats, says Mr. Pasternjak. At a scheduled meeting in the Austrian town of Villach, they intend to support the implementation of a virtually forgotten project "the Winter Olympics of the three countries" (Slovenia, Austria and Italy).
