MONTHLY REVIEW OF EVENTS IN SLOVENIA - OCTOBER 1992

Ljubljana, 3 November - The draft of the Law on Privatization was finally (after two years of complications) discussed at the last parliamentary session in October. Authors of this draftlaw are four deputies from different - governmental and non-governmental parties, and the submitter is the Slovenian government. The draftlaw anticipates in giving away free shares to each employee, respectively a Slovenian citizen, who would get a certificate of ownership in the value of 300,000 Sit (Slovenian Tolars). The draftlaw would protect the rights of former owners and their inheritors in getting back their property. The workers' redemption will from now on be called the internal shares' redemption. Privatization funds will be named "Authorized Investment Companies". This law would introduce new paragraphs according to which a revision of already executed privatization will be done in those companies in which the so-called "wild" privatization was carried out.
