Milan Kučan Presented the Pope a "Token of Peace" with a "Pledge of Peace"

Ljubljana, 20 February - During his visit to the Vatican, President Kučan presented Pope John Paul II. with a token of peace. The present was accompanied by a "Pledge of Peace" which says: "Guarded by the Alps lives a nation dreaming of peace. Its most hidden dreams remained in fables about the land of the ibex. In long winter nights, the myth was handed down that, after 700 years, a tree will grow in the rocky sea from which a cradle will be carved for a boy who will find the majestic kingdom. He dreamt of the good shepherd. His silent voice whispered and its echo reached the highest peaks and gave them glorious names. No force could silence the fieriness of this voice.
