Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 15-21 Dec.

Ljubljana, 22 December - Last week was marked with Slovenia's entry to the Schengen no-passport zone along with eight other EU newcomers and the elimination of checkpoints on land and sea borders with other members of the bloc. The Competition Protection Office meanwhile launched proceedings against the top three retailers in Slovenia for alleged collusion on the Slovenian market. The parliament meanwhile passed amendments that will prevent takeovers financed through loans tied to the shares of the target company. Slovenia also celebrated last week Independence and Unity Day.
