Slovenia at EU's Helm Four Years after Accession
Ljubljana, 1 May - Slovenia joined the European Union on 1 May 2004 as one of the ten newcomers in what was the biggest EU enlargement to date. The country adopted the euro in January 2007, joined the Schengen no-border zone in December 2007 and is currently presiding over the 27-member bloc.
