50th Anniversary of Slovene Programmes on Austrian Radio and Television

The language of Slovenes was first heard on the Carinthian Radio in l946 when Helmut Hartman from Ferlach (Borovlje) read Slovene prose on live programme. Soon after Slovene programmes became sort of "miniprogramme" and are now among the most successful programmes within the national Austrian radio and television (ORF). Slovene programmes are regularly listened by 88 percent of the national radio and television subscribers, said Mirko Bogataj, Editor in chief of the ORF Slovene programmes.
