e National Assembly has adopted changes to the Law on Ownership Transfer which would have enabled the commencement of extensive transfers of socially owned property to private owners. However, the National Council vetoed the changes. The National Assembly must again deliberate and consider the already adopted changes. Primary and secondary school teachers throughout Slovenia have gone on strike and, though the public and particularly the government is well informed of the problems of Slovenia's school system, this strike is serious. At Sunday's provincial elections in the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia province only one representative of Slovenia was elected. Despite the recent Delo headline annoucning "the end of the HIT-VIS scandal", this if far from true.
