Školč: "NO to Fascism! Freedom to Nations."
Ljubljana, 14 May - SLOVENIA/VE-DAY/COMMEMORATIONS
"After fifty years it is possible to forgive, it is possible to understand, possible - not only possible, but necessary to close the grave over the unburied dead and remedy the injustices that were done to the living. We, who were not present, believe in the inevitability and humanity of such a deed. Not in order to revive the irrevocable mistakes of this or that side, but because nobody can judge the motives that led each individual to their determination. And at least those who did not survive will not fit into the simple model of losers and winners, not now and not ever. They were collaborators and partisans; Slovenes, Germans, Hungarians, Italians, Serbs, Croats, Mongols, Russians. They were and they are no more. Maybe it really is time to erect them all a monument," said Speaker of the Slovene Parliament Jožef Školč at the solemn session of parliament on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II and victory over Fascism and Nazism.
