Slovene Press on Postponement of Parliamentary Discussion of Motion of Law on Moratorium of Restitution of Church Property
Ljubljana, 20 June - After several unsuccessful trials and continuous obstruction, the Slovene parliament Monday postponed the discussion on temporary moratorium on restitution of property to the Catholic Church and other religious orders and communities to one of its future sessions. The motion of law was proposed by members of the Slovene National Party (SNS) Polonca Dobrajc and Zmago Jelinčič, to stop restitution of forests to the Roman Catholic Church until all property relations of the past are resolved. The discussion and adoption of this motion in parliament was opposed by the Slovene Christian Democrats (SKD), the Slovene People's Party (SLS), and the Social Democratic Party of Slovenia. Slovene dailies dedicate their main commentaries to this topic on Tuesday.
