First meeting between government and unions

Ljubljana, 22 March - SLOVENIA/MEETING/GOVERNMENT/UNIONS
In today's session the government adopted the supplements to the law on wage freezes, from which it excluded those companies which since September last year had not increased wages. A reduction in the pay of deputies and members of the government was also proposed. In addition to this the government also adopted the proposal from certain economists that tax rather than administrative sanctions should be imposed, Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek disclosed among other things at today's first meeting with representatives of Slovenian unions.
