Parliament on Ownership Transformation

Ljubljana, 16 July - PARLIAMENT/OWNERSHIP/TRANSFORMATION
After four days in session devoted exclusively to ownership transformation, members of Parliament finally wound up the session adopting 27 out of 60 suggestions aimed at improving certain deficiencies and doing away with errors in the ownership transformation process, which should also accelerate the process. In their discussion Members of Parliament reviewed the results of ownership transformation and the accompanying problems, especially the problem of damage that is being done to public ownership, the flow of public-owned capital to foreign countries and the question of appropriate auditing of ownership transformation. The Government prepared a comprehensive report on the work that has been done so far in the process of ownership transformation, while competent ministries, the national bank, funds, agencies and public prosecutor's office reported about their activities related to supervision and auditing of the process. The special session was called on the initiative of the opposition Slovene People's Party.
