Topic of the Week: Ljubljana - City of Human Rights
Ljubljana, 18 August - AMNESTY/INTERNATIONAL
Prominent non-governmental organization, which is struggling for the protection of human rights, Amnesty International (AI), selected Slovenia for its 22nd International Council Meeting (ICM), which is to contribute according to Slovene President Milan Kučan, speaking at the opening of this 10 day meeting, to the respectability of Slovenia. Kučan also said that Slovenia is a legal and social state, which, however, does not mean that there is no human rights violation in Slovenia. Yet, he assessed as the most important the fact that Slovene society and the state have been alert to such violations and have always responded to them.
