Slovene Viticulture and the 1995 Vintage

Numerous archeological finds and rich archive material bear witness to the fact that grape-growing and winemaking were widely spread on Slovene soil as early as in the times when the Celts had lived here. But each and every year the grape-pickers have been asking one and the same question when the vintage time came: Will the vintage be good this year? Old books dating from distant centuries bear reports on numerous excellent vintages in Slovenia but also reports on very poor ones. The predictions for the 1995 vintage are good as regards the quality of the wine, despite the fact that the quantity is scarce.
