Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from 30 October to 3 November
Ljubljana, 4 November - State Secretary to Ministry of Economic Relations and Development Vojka Ravbar and State Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture Ivan Obal informed the public after a Government session on Thursday on the process of Slovenia's joining the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). Slovenia is the first country to join the CEFTA which is a very closed organization. The text of the agreement with the CEFTA has been almost comprehensively aligned, including the texts on manufactured goods and liberalization in this area. Final negotiations in the area of agriculture are underway, with some problems arising. The Government was informed on open questions in the negotiations and adopted the guidelines for the negotiating team, since it expects the agreement to be signed in near future. In the area of agriculture, the Government adopted gradual liberalization course and a continuation of the negotiations which are to take place between 6 and 8 November in Budapest.
