jubljana, 1 July (STA) - Today's dailies have focused their attention on the domestic front on the strikes in the Metal Processing and Electronic Equipment Manufacturing Industries(SKEI), and the forced take-over of the Slovenian Union beer-brewery located in Buzet, Croatian Istria.***

Dnevnik, in a commentary entitled: "A Friendly Strike," compares the farmers' strike with the strike of the workers in the SKEI, praising the latter's knowledge of the rules of democratic striking and condemning the farmers for having let themselves be made pawns of short-term political interests. The commentator points out that demonstrations of power through the use of tractors can only be understood as an overture to a revolution. Yet the question is, for what reason, for whom and in whose interest would such a revolution be. Despite the favourable assessments of the metal-workers' strike, the commentator adds that matters could rapidly become complicated and take a turn for the worse in the event that the workers, or those affected the most by the current economic crisis, would receive the impression that nobody is interested in helping them.
