Virant Elected Speaker as PS and SocDems Sidelined

Ljubljana, 21 December - Gregor Virant of the namesake centrist list won 52 votes to be elected speaker of the National Assembly at Wednesday's inaugural session of the National Assembly to overcome a stalemate that saw two failed votes earlier in the day.
