Foreign Exchange Proceeds from Tourism Nearly SIT 1 Billion
Ljubljana, 21 December - GZS/TOURISM/HOTEL/TRADE
Foreign exchange proceeds from tourism amounted in the first ten months of this year to SIT 980 million, which is more than the entire last year's income. However, the advance was not due to increased tourist service activities, Peter Vesenjak, State Secretary for tourism told at a session Thursday given by the Management Board of the Association for Hotels, Restaurants and Travel Agencies, working within the Chamber of Economy of Slovenia (GZS), as half of the amount comes from selling cash and cheques to foreigners, the other half from casinos, and a mere 5 per cent share is accounted for by the tourist companies' services, the share even recording an almost one fifth decline compared to the same period last year.
