Twelve Suicides during Christmas Holidays
Ljubljana, 28 December - SLOVENIA/SUICIDE
During the Christmas holidays 12 people committed suicide in Slovenia, while death toll in traffic accidents was 6 times smaller during that time. According to statistics, holidays are the most critical time for people with suicidal tendencies. Beside the elderly, these include teenagers, alcoholics and drug addicts, men being more prone to suicide than women. Experts believe depression with sensitive people increases immensely in winter, and particularly during holidays, affecting chiefly the lonely.
