Delo: (Extra) Marital Love

Commenting a recent Statement by the Slovenian Bishop Conference on unjustified attacks against the Church, Delo writes that Slovene Ministry has again exposed a number of contradictions in its views, as on one side it strives to act as an instance of civil society, while on the other it demands a partner-like relationship with the state, and even claims equal status in the partnership. The Clergy seems to refuse regulations, endorsed by the parliament, which is its legitimate right, but it must not forget, Delo writes, that the parliament in a way "embodies the will of the people." Neither should the Ministry ignore numerous public opinion polls showing that an increasing number of people opposes the Church taking a more active role in politics, returning of nationalized property, introcucing religious education to public schools, etc. In short, it must also account for the third partner, namely a critical public.
