Review of Slovene Press on Thursday

Ljubljana, 25 January - The outcome of the events in the Parliament which were triggered off by irreconcilable views of coalition parties regarding the adjustment of pensions and the interpellation against Minister of Economy Maks Tajnikar, reveal that due to the nearing election time political issues in the National Assembly are becoming ever so complicated, writes Thursday issue of daily Delo. Behind the latest postponement of the decision making on pensions and on the fate of Minister Tajnikar are mainly the opposition MPs. The daily forecasts that the fate of pensions and the minister will be finally sealed by the opposition, pensions by Christian Democrats and the minister's fate by liberal Democrats. If on the issue of pensions the Christian Democrats do not uphold the Government's suggestion, and if they join the United List of Social Democrats and let down Liberal Democrats they might not get the support of Liberal Democrats when deciding on the interpellation against minister Tajnikar. The opposition, who will in deciding on both issues act as a decisive factor, have more or less already voiced their opinion on both issues.
